AFTER a few weeks off The Good Beer Buzz is delighted to be back at the desk ready to bring you all the best of The Allanwater Brewhouse action both reviewing and previewing!
But isn’t it amazing what can happen in a month! The heatwave has ended and the rain returned!
But today let’s wish ‘The Material Girl’ herself, Madonna, a very happy 60th birthday….hard to believe we know!
Yet at The Brewhouse something never changes and that is our commitment to great beer, good food and the best local musical talent and earlier this week it was a case of “two out of three ain’t bad”… as Meat Loaf would say!
On Tuesday night we had a visit from an ‘august’ group of individuals from Bridge of Allan Sports Club who have enlisted the Brewhouse to produce a commemorative beer to celebrate the club’s establishment way back in 1889.
Did they arrive on Penny Farthings….or was that just a vicious rumour…we aren’t sure but without doubt BofA Sports Club has long been Central Scotland’s premier private racket sport venue and the club’s president Walter McAllister (seated left) along with Stewart, head bar maid Donna and Bert, attended The Brewhouse, where owner Douglas Ross (seated right) assailed their taste buds with a staggering 15 different beers, ales and IPA’s as he sought to ascertain the perfect drop which will soon metamorphosis into ‘The Minewood 1889’ sometime very soon!
Suffice to say we will bring you more on this story once ‘The Holy Grail’ has been created!
But Tuesday night is a busy evening at The Brewhouse and that is no doubt due to the fact that John Boyd occupies centre stage with some of his musical friends joining him on stage to make sure our patrons don’t suffer a case of the midweek blues!
Moving swiftly on the weekend is nearly upon us and occupying Saturday night’s Top of the Bill slot will be the Dapper McDans who are one of Scotland’s leading Bluegrass & American Old Time Country groups and are pictured top of The Good Beer Buzz.
One things for sure if they play their sensational slide-guitar infused version of Fireball Mail your toes are sure to be-a-tapping….from 8.30pm onwards.
But if you like a more cerebral approach to your music then our in-house band The Jazz Pack, pictured below, will be taking to The Brewhouse stage at 4pm on Sunday afternoon for our monthly treat of ‘All that Jazz’ and oh so much more!
Of course elsewhere on The Brewhouse website our brew of the week video blog will feature the Belgian Farmhouse style inspired ‘Saison’….mmmm!
Now it’s our duty to serve you with advance notice of our next big Brewhouse event which will come round a week on Saturday when we stage the ultimate farewell to the summer with our ‘Festival in a Day: Top of the Hops’.
This is an ambitious 12 – hour event, which will feature three of Stirlingshire’s top local live music acts, a feast of street barbecue food and all washed down, naturally, with the Brewhouse’s unique range of beers and ciders and admission…yes, you’ve guessed it…is free!
Inspired by the success of our ‘Beer, Cider & Bangers Festival’, which saw almost 700 people enjoying themselves over three sun-kissed days back in June, Brewhouse owner Douglas Ross waxed: “It’s been a really memorable summer and we at The Brewhouse thought it only fitting to bring the curtain down on it by putting on an event that encapsulates everything we are about.
“Our philosophy is that there is nothing better than great live music accompanied by a selection of fine beers and some sexy street food and we have really pushed out the boat in that respect!
“Things will kick-off at midday when our Barbecue will be fired up and the delicious aroma of our famous Jerk chicken will be wafting through the air with our first act hitting the stage at 3pm and the action will be pretty much non-stop from then.
“We will be revealing the full musical bill next week but what is vital to us is that we create the perfect ambience by supporting and blending the best local musical talent in with fine beer and food and that is something we are guaranteeing at The Brewhouse on Saturday August 25.”
