HOW do you top a night like last Saturday’s Farewell Runrig Concert?
Thankfully the Allanwater Brewhouse believes we have just the answer to make you ‘Heart Hammer’!!
This Saturday we will be hosting the ultimate farewell to the summer when we hold our Festival in a Day: Top of the Hops…the good news is admission is free.
At The Good Beer Buzz we don’t like to play silly ‘burgers’ so let’s give you a flavour of what’s on the menu!
Three top quality local musical acts, a sumptuous array of bespoke bangers supplied by Bridge of Allan’s very own master butcher John Cullen, plus our own legendary all-day street barbecue at which the almost mythical Brewhouse Jerk Chicken will be sizzling all day and a host of classic Brew’s plus the launch of one of the tastiest most innovative lagers you will every ‘swally’!
But enough of the waffle, Brewhouse boss Douglas Ross is keen to paint the picture: “We are really excited to be marking the end of the summer with one last Hurrah! So if anyone is suffering from a case of the blues after last week’s wonderful Runrig concert then we have the perfect antidote!
“Our famous street barbecue will be fired up from 12 noon in the courtyard just outside our entrance and at 3pm we will welcome the first of our three new musical acts, The Riverman Collective (pictured below), who will be coming all the way down from the wilds of Perthshire to make their debut with us.
“They combine an eclectic musical taste with a dash of the inspired, melding guitars, violin and voice to present, new and old favourites and we are confident they will kick things off with a bang…or should that be banger!”
While your plates will no doubt be groaning (can we recommend the Malty Beetroot Black Pepper & Beef Banger!) as The Riverman take the stage, we humbly suggest that you form an orderly cue at the pump marked Black Lager…here’s why!
Back to Douglas: “We have had our head brewer Jonathan working day and night to come up with an elixir of life and in our new Black Lager we think he has achieved just that. At first sight with the jet black colouring and the lightly creamy head you think you have a stout in front of you but the taste defies the evidence of your eyes! A crisp and lingering taste with a floral finish that is…well…to die for!”
With the Good Beer Buzz having had the chance to enjoy a secret tasting on Wednesday we can confirm that, for once, the big fella hasn’t over done the hyperbole!!
But let’s return to the stage and at 6pm Brewhouse favourite Tom Thompson (pictured below) will have your toes-a-tapping with his hugely popular folk acoustic set.
As early evening begins to be shrouded in the August night it will be time to warm up for our top of the bill slot and can we recommend another Brewhouse Classic as the perfect pint for the job.
Our Madras Stout is a dark and stormy stout infused with the spices of the Indian sub-continent that will leave you on cloud nine and we are confident that even Len Goodman would struggle to award this bad boy a seeeeveeeen!
But for tasting notes on the Black Lager, Madras Stout and Mango Saison (pictured below) why not click on our Brew of the Week video blog elsewhere on the Brewhouse site…we promise your fancy will be well and truly tickled!
All of which will set the stage perfectly for our headliner the man-in-black himself, Matt Little, to serenade you with his unique interpretation of an endless array of timeless classics.
So, all that’s left to say is we hope to see you all at The Brewhouse on Saturday and promise you will eat, drink and be (very) merry!
